Great stuff i cant wait to get started with my Skm 100 build now. Still just getting all my parts together so its going to be a few weeks be for i can make a start on it.

nice,
from what i've experienced these bricks seem robust.... that works well for me because i'm rough haha. Looking forward to your build

Hi oneKone,

do you know the input power of te coil? Is this coil useable at a 230V / 16A power outlet?

Hi,
It's actually running off a 230v/25a outlet. Although the current draw is under 8-9a, I should actually get a proper reading

last major update!

I made a 500mm toroid for the coil, it really didn't make much of a difference and also just looked wrong! so i put the 400mm toroid back on, buttoned up the mounting and for the most part finished the coil. There will be small changes to it along the way.

final specs:
Fullbridge of aliexpress skm100gb125dn igbts (active cooling)
bus capacitance: epcos 4700uf 400v
mmc: 2 X kemet 330nf 3kv dc capacitors in series for 165nf tank capacitance
Profdc9 tht ud2.7c driver
3.175mm diameter primary coil, 100mm starting diameter, 8mm pitch, 7 turns - tapped at 6 turns (for the time being)
secondary: 80mm diameter, 400mm winding length, wound with temco 32awg magnet wire
400mm toroid made from semi rigid aluminium ducting
320v dc bus voltage, 550A current limit.

There are some things i wouldn't mind changing on the coil, but then to me it takes away from the character of the build... it's not perfect and it never will be, it simply just is. I do have a spare identical secondary i wound, so maybe it will be built into a similar coil just to get my construction more honed in. As for my bigger drsstc build... that will be on hold until everything around the world settles down and also i can make sure the industry i work for doesn't go quiet aka i don't want to spend "big money" on a project right now. but it does leave me to ponder my next build -or experiment?

secondary diameter: 230mm, winding length 560mm with 22awg temco wire.
i'm thinking of getting profdc9 ud2.9 pcb boards made to have a go at a pulse skipped coil with 2 X skm100gb in parallel half bridge?
