Components of my 8.6 inch pig-powered SGTC: control cabinet
« on: August 30, 2019, 05:29:06 AM »
Here are some pictures of the power control cabinet for my 8.6 inch SGTC. It does the following:

1. Voltage control for pole transformer via 240 volt variac
2. Current limiting for pole transformer using variable air gap inductor (ballast)
3. Voltage and current monitoring of input and output power
4. RSG (rotary spark gap) phase controller
5. Control using industrial-grade switches and lamps
6. EMI protection of 240 volt input line
7. PFC (power factor correction)
8. Cooling fan
9. Auxiliary 120 volt power outlet

Its all mounted in a standard 6-foot high 19 inch rack.
