What size Tungsten are you guys using 1/4 1/8 3/8. Will be running 2k watt. Thanks

Forgot to say its a synchronous rotory.

Some people would say I'm way under-sized but I am using 1/8 " tungsten for the flying electrodes and 3/16 " for the stationary electrodes. My coil is pulling 6.5 KVA. After about 10 hours of run-time I see no discernible wear on the flying electrodes. The only wear that I see on the stationary electrodes is some rounding where it took the sharp edges off of the tips. No adjustment has been required.

I will say that I am using brass bolts to hold the flying electrodes. I also have little custom heat sinks for the stationary electrodes close to the tip. They look like vacuum tube anode cap heat sinks. Both of these help cool the electrodes.

The bottom line is that 1/8 " is plenty for 2 KVA.
