Top of secondary
« on: April 27, 2019, 05:06:22 PM »
I have my 6 inch secondary all done. I have a 6inch cap for the top, how are you guys getting the wire inside the coil as the cap won't fit the top with the wire on the outside. I seen where most said not to drill holes in the secondary for this purpose. So keep it on the outside, or loose the cap.  Hear is a picture of my latest progress.

I would make a slight slit in the cap for the wire to run in and cover that up in varnish, make sure its well insulated as it will stick out a little compared to the coil.

Scroll down to the bottom to see why you should not let the wire run inside: http://kaizerpowerelectronics.dk/tesla-coils/drsstc-design-guide/secondary-coil/

Thanks, that is very good reading.

I don't use caps that slip over the secondary tube. I use caps that fit inside of the tube which are then glued in place. With internal caps the wire can then be brought to the top with no problem. I have to custom-cut the caps to snuggly fit the inside diameter of the tube.
