Which way would be correct (for primary)
« on: April 18, 2019, 09:10:30 PM »

I have read two different methods for the primary center hole, 1st  the hole 2 inches bigger than the secondary. The second method said primary as close to the secondary without shorting. Which one should be used. Thanks again.

There is only 2 things to consider when choosing the inner diameter of your primary coil.

- Preventing flash-over between primary coil and secondary base / earthing point
- Coupling between coils

Often the required coupling between the coils will force you to have enough space between the coils so that the first paragraph is not a problem.

I would go with minimum 5 cm / 2" which also leaves you with some room to work in, when everything is fitted too tight together there is no room for servicing.

Thanks I went with 2". Got the secondary wound.
