about drsstc interrupter connection

Hey, guys, I need a suggestion. you know we use fiber optic transceiver to connect an intruperter to drsstc. what else does he use?  Anybody try Optocoupler?. or do you have any other suggestions ?

Hi Ect1453, :)

Some people just use shielded RCA cable, or similar. Of course this doesn't give the same amount of isolation as Fibre Optic though.

On my first SSTC I used an optocoupler at the SSTC end, and shielded RCA cable to the interrupter. This works, but probably shouldn't be used at the high power levels of a DRSSTC, unless using a simple 555 interrupter (or similar micro-controller/midi/laptop free design).
When testing my SSTC, I did notice some noise making it into the interrupter circuit. This may be prevented by another optocoupler at the interrupter end of the RCA cable, but I'm not entirely sure.

I have also used shielded mini-jack for audio input to a SSTC and it only gave me problems. I spend more time shielding it than building a isolated interface would have. I did also make a mistake by having the audio interrupter in the enclosure under the coil. But the noise issue was more the audio source that would halt, reboot and lock up when I turned up the voltage to the cool too much.

I only make coils with fiber connected interrupters now, for less noise problems and human safety :)

The BNC connector for the drsstc cutter produced in China also added output. it makes sense to me.   what kind of solution Do you think BNC would have?

With BNC you will have some good standard parts that is well shielded, but constructed for 50/75 Ohm impedance.

The biggest problem with direct cabling is not shielding it, but that the shield conducts noise from the coil to the interrupter/keyboard/whatever you are sending the signal from.
