Does there exist any such beasts?

A brick IGBT is nothing but several chips parallelled in the housing but of course compact in design which facilitates is purpose as a high power switchin´device.

Parallelling discrete devises I can imagine leads to challenges with layout (busbar desing) , contacting component legs to busbars, maximum operating frequency, current sharing in a dynamic switchin´world  etc and all other troubles coming from a high freq/high current design and adding parasitics (R, L, C all at the WRONG place... :)

But as I find the bricks  expensive, hard  to find (harder the better price...)  , I was wondering how far one could go with discrete semis ?

Any good examples out there?

Currently I am using a full-bridge with 8 IGBTs, each FGH60N60SMD, two paralleled on each side of the bridge.  It seems to work fine, however, I am using pulse skip operation, which operates at a lower current and a longer interrupter interval length, so for really high peak currents this may not be as favorable.

I have looked into this and I designed some PCBs that are included in the DRSSTC PCB pack that are intended for multiple IGBT operation.  I tried to minimize the parasitic inductances that cause spikes on the bus and differences between voltages between IGBTs, as well as strategically place the power supply decoupling capacitors.  There are half-bridge and full-bridge versions, and two half bridges can be combined into a full bridge as long as their power rails are tightly coupled.

Here are screenshots of the PCBs
