Regarding an MMC for a QCWDRSSTC
« on: February 19, 2018, 08:11:58 AM »
Now, I've sen a lot of people here use small PP capacitors for their MMC
my question is will thesehttps://www.ebay.com/itm/10PCS-CBB22-Through-Hole-Polypropylene-Film-Capacitors-1uF-400V/182362515272?hash=item2a75a72748:g:wsgAAOSwal5YNFZr
kind of caps work??
they're really cheap where i live

I would suggest finding something with a datasheet!

MMC capacitors for a QCW should not be very expensive - it's probably worth using something with known specifications unless you're on an extreme budget.

The mere act of having a datasheet makes a capacitor morbidly expensive in my opinion

They are properly very similar to the Panasonic ECWH capacitors that was used back in the old days, I got 3 kinds in my MMC calculator list http://kaizerpowerelectronics.dk/calculators/mmc-calculator/ and there is also a datasheet in the table of good MMC capacitors: http://kaizerpowerelectronics.dk/theory/good-mmc-capacitors/

hmm...
These capacitors might just work!!
Thanks a lot for all your help!!!
I plan on using 20 in series and 10 of these in parallel to give me about 50nF of capacitance

50nF is very large for a QCW coil - the required MMC normally works out to be under 20nF.
