Kicad examples
« on: January 26, 2018, 04:45:53 PM »
Hello,

Since I have been working on learning how to make PCBs, I thought I would share my experience with Kicad.  It is free/open source, so it's going to be there.

It is a little weak I think in autorouting, but it can produce nice results with a bit of effort.  I hand routed these example boards I am including.

There are three examples here.  One is of the half-bridge gate driver that is in this document

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwFicJLV0O4jYlQ0ejJ6NE9XVE0/view?usp=sharing

This is a fixed-frequency 50% duty cycle driver with overcurrent and undervoltage protection based on the UCC37321 9 A gate driver.

The other two boards are a full- and half-bridge layout of the power transistor section, with TO-247 type MOSFETs/IGBTs.  These are intended to be stacked on top of the gate driver board.

I had the gate driver board made at Seeedstudio.  These boards are all sized to be less than 10 by 10 cm so you can get the $5 manufacturing special deal.
