SSTC with a ballast circuit not working
« on: October 29, 2020, 03:01:26 AM »
Im trying to make a tesla coil from 2016. After many failures i stopped trying stuffs. But now i discoverd that tesla coil can be made by many other ways.I follow the systematics i attached. I blew up almost 6 IRFP460 mosfet. but it didnt even work not a single spark.Plz guys i want your help

Component I use:
Diode UF5408
1 MKP 250v capacitor
12k 2watt Resistor
12v 1w zener diode
10k potentiometer
5 turn with 3.6mm thick copper wire insulated
1200 turn in secondary
and i use 2*40w ballast as parallel
everything attached together same as syscamatics

Can anyone help how it will work!
it will be great pleasure

A slayer exciter at mains voltage? Are you mad?

>>but i use a ballast to limit the current.

What is the current limit, in amperes?  Do you think it's enough to break something if it goes through a MOSFET the wrong way?

The silly pictorial schematic is inadequate in several ways.

First, it suggests that all you need is "everything attached together" to match the diagram.
This is not like wiring a lamp to your ballast.
At high frequency, the physical length of the wires matters, and the connection topology of nets with more than two nodes.
Can we see a picture of your actual IRFP-destroying circuit?  And a link to the working SSTC that the diagram came from?

Second, the images don't match the annotation, even if we ignore obvious differences in scale.
Should the capacitor and resistor values match the pictures or match the words?
The TO-220 device picture doesn't appear to say IRF, and we can barely tell whether the view is front side or back side.  How can readers interpret the circuit without seeing the pin names?  You could take a step forward by looking up the pin names (drain, gate, source?). Please add them to the diagram for us.

I was trying to replicate the circuit from this guy . and I blew my another irfp460 but this time its work a little bit i tell it briefly on my another post which i will post in a while

The level of jankyness in that video makes it look fake if I'm completely honest with you.
