« on: August 31, 2020, 12:05:35 PM »
New on the forum trying to sort my full bridge out. keeps blowing igbts few pics below of the set up also the full bridge design

i have 2 set ups one using 4 x 40n120fl3 and the other using 40n60smdf.

Supply is off a variac with 50amp bridge seems its always a2,b2 igbts that keep failing

Is the GDT phasing correct?
Make sure your GDT is never switching Q3, Q1 with the same phase. Same thing applies for Q2,Q4.
This creates cross conduction and eventually destruction of your IGBTs.

More details would be helpful.
For example, pictures of scoped waveforms of the gates (G-E) of your bridge.

That's what I thought. If you're unsure about the phasing and don't want to unwind the GDT, you can connect the "minus" of two outputs together and measure with an oscilloscope between the two "plus" wires. If they're the same phase you won't measure anything between them. If you measure a clear signal then they're he opposite phase. Swap one of them to make sure. When they're the same phase, mark the "minus" wire with a sharpie on each pair. When you've phased the output pairs, you can do the same with the input pair.

Also, you should twist all the gate drive wires to mitigate interference and crosstalk. Right now they're all loose.
