Diferents drivers for SSTC´s
« on: May 14, 2020, 08:49:42 PM »
Hello. I have made a coil with 1.000 turns of 29AWG in a PVC pipe. I have try different slayer exciters circuits. The basic with TIP31C, and a diode. And this one a little bit more elborated. This give me 2 cm sparks at 19V. I leave below the link to the video where I saw it.

I also tried with the electroBOOM circuit

R1 = 2 ohm
R2 = 22Kohm
U1 = MIC4452
Q1 = IRF840
Diode = 1n4148

But it doesn´t work. I think the IC need more connections because I have only connect the pins IN and OUT. Do I also need to connect the pins VS and GND? Directly to the power supply?

And reading the forum, I see circuits much more elaborated. If I would make one of these, Will I see a great improvement?

Thank you so much

Kind regards

yes  you have to connedct the ic power pins
In logic circuits the power pins are often omitted to make the logic clearer but they still have to be connected

Yes you need to connect power to the driver. Look up the datasheet before popping components into circuits at random, it might even work if you did that first :)

As seen here in the functional diagram, the VSS and GND is not just there to make the component look nice.

hahaha.

This is what happens when you don´t have idea. Thank you very much.

And what about the other drivers circuit. Am I going to see the difference?

EDIT: It has worked! But only les than one minute at 12 volts. The IC burns!

I'm thinking about to make a new coil with more turns. How many turns do you recomend me? Also because the size, does it matters if I use Awg 32 or 36? I read a lot of internet but I'm not sure and I see real professional people in this forum.
