If I were you I would find a 600v to 1000v 35A bridge rectifier on ebay or a online surplus electoninics store for 3$ each. it is a lot more simpler and reliable

were any of the other devices bad. you could add some TVS or diodes across the drains and sources to help agents spikes.

one thing I'm seeing on your transformer primary is the amount of windings. there should be about 4-6 turns of hevey wire like 14-10 awg. When the unit is in resonance the primary caps and secondary will have a lot of circulating current. the secondary should have the same resonance that will help with your power and voltage gain

if there is not any problem with your silicon I recomend that you use a old fashoned raw dc power source because your power supply may be folding under the needed current. your zener diodes look like transientt voltage supressers or transorbe, what are they? also a solder type bread board may help you trubleshoot your circuit. the transformer that you have should be able to put out a cuple of kilowatts and using a IGBT brick setup should help you achieve that. there a lot of examples hear at the forum

it looks like you have 8 seconaries. each two have there own bridge rectifier. I assume that each winding is floating. if this is the case each set of secondaries and bridge should be treated as though they are a battery so you can set them in parallel or series them. if you series them the potensial will be the highest`and the hazard for arcing to other things like metal or you will go up. you won't be able to hold that yellow wire any more.

I think you have transitioning noise with out using any dead time and the spikes betwean the turn on and off of each half bridge transition is cross conduction for 200-500ns. I would make dead time qbout 1us your drive looks good but is the tesla in tune beween the primary and secondary. the secondary resonance should be slightly higher so when your arc loads it they will resonate together

what is your supply voltage beacaus you have a lot of current but not very much voltage, maybe 5KV -10Kv. if that is a x-ray transformer it is capible of an arc 3x bigger or more. maby a igbt brick half bridge setup running off the mains will get you there

« on: August 24, 2020, 11:42:10 PM »
do you think that you may have any shoot through on your mosfets transitioning times because that can make for bad noisepspike roble ms. the failure mode of TVS's are to short. problems at lower voltages may not be as visible at running voltages. have you used a isolation transformer and scope to look at your bridge

Hi johnf. and all, primarily this is a thought experiment and I have not done any heavy calculations to create the bobins. I might add sepperator betwean the cores like kapton. I am hopping to make it a resonant system like a ZVS and drive it with a brick H-bridge setup. I hope to add some capacitors in parallel with the primary to increase the circulating current in the primary. My point about making the secondaries angled is for holdoff because I would like to get to get about 25kv peak each out of phase whitch means they will probly have to go under oil. the end product is for a fullwave HV dublier. alot of thease jacobs ladder ZVS setups put out about 10-15Kv using a bobin like PVC tubing wich is awsum but I would like a little more voltage. the primary dose not have to go under the secondary so I have used my imagination to make it more resistant and with 3D printers this may be pausible. Any comments welcome

so I cut a notch in the long side so the winding can be moved from one layer to another. hear is the vision

hi all sorry for the delay but here is the bobbin shape that i am hopping to print. it may be a while before I get the printer so i will see if i cant get it printed online if any body likes it wants the file ir print one let me know. I shaped it around the amazon cores I bought. any comment are welcome.

where did you get the skip jump driver, is it cinese. can you show us a picture. dose information ulimited offer there own pcb for the plans that you recieved for the driver? there are a lot if circuits and projects hear.

that looks good HighVoltageRulezz how much voltage do you expect, oil is the way to go and a round bobbin is easier to make. I would like to see how it ends up. I'm hopping a trapazoidal secondary will have better holdoff on the high side. what program did you use to create the shape?
15
« on: August 12, 2020, 09:00:50 PM »
hi Steve, creating a layered bobbin would work too. acrylic laser cut layers glued together might work as well but 3D is cleaner and easier, something like that was one of my first ideas.

my plan is to make a transformer that is has a grounded center tap so this transformer will have 2 secondary. I want to create a tapered bobbin wind it and fill it with epoxy in a mold and then put the ferrite through it. when these types of transformers are made arcing will occur to any low potential like the ferrite or primary making the need to put it in oil. it is two hard to find a ex-ray transformer so making one is my only option. the plan is to use Autodesk 123d to create the bobbins. the 3d printer will take a while to get to me while I familiarize my self with the cad software so maybe a service like Shapeways can print it.

I am looking to create a bobbin for a ZVS and have chosen ABS and PLA. Any other suggestions are welcome. I thought that ABS would have the best holdoff but has a higher melting temperature. I am new to 3D printing but I am thinking that it may be the only way to make a high voltage bobbin. I have a shape picked out .

that is an assume multiplier but that frrite transformer is giant. is it possible to order one or did you find it on ebay or something. I have been looking for a long time to find one. I have a bunch of the old type of flybacks with no diodes in them that I am planning to parallel and make a full wave Cockcroft multiplier. any help would be apreciated.
