ud2.7c PCB
« on: October 26, 2022, 08:26:07 PM »
I have had 5 of the 2.7c boards from Loneoceans .

Not found all parts and would like to just order a package of all parts. So I guess my question is....

Is there a  BOM (Mouser) list  to buy the components for the driver board UD2.7C, I have found parts list, but I don't type very good. I would even pay someone's pay pall account.

Thanks anyone

On ud2.7c loneocean 's website, there is a link with populated mouser order, if some parts are obsolete/non stocked you can replace with similar ones

Been to that spot many times and never picked up on the link, thanks

The list on LoneOcean's site had a lot of obsolete parts in it. I created a new one when I built my UD27 about 12 months ago. I can't guarantee it's correct, but don't remember any issues...

https://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=8C50A5D043

You're welcome to try it and see if it saves some time.

I am building a ud2.7c board myself this period of time, with which component can you substitute MBR0530, as both MBR0530 and NVRB0530 are marked as obsolete ?

Also FDD8424HF part has a very long lead time, and was thinking of replacing with AOD609, which has similar characteristics, however FDD8424HF has 20A drain current, where AOD609 has 12A only, what would be the limitations of what IGBTs can drive ?

Costas,

The AOD609's work fine, and driving them into the gates, at what looks like a momentary short, with a 24V gate drive, the 12A limit will be taken care of with a 2R gate resistor. You are probably going to need more than that to handle overshoot due to stray inductances, and to slow down the turn on of the IGBT.
As far as diodes go, I doubt there are any diodes on that board that can not safely be substituted by 1N5819, or any other nice 1A 40V schottky in a sod123 package. The choise of diodes on the board are of a historical nature, and needs not be strictly adhered to.

Cheers, Finn Hammer

Hello Finn,

well I got confused and was searching for recovery time on MBR0530 datasheet, while schottky diodes act as "true one way valves" ,  so for the SOD123 package there is not a limitation of the frequency can those diodes be operational and be able to rectify feedback CT signal and load the 5.1R resistor in a typical drsstc usage (30-400 Khz)

Also for AOD609 part, thanks for clarifying the drain current limit, most IGBTs used in drsstcs require 4R to 15R gate resistors depending the frequency, so it is not going to be a problem either.

I get 15nS here:
https://www.diodes.com/assets/Datasheets/1N5819HW1.pdf

You still have to rate the transfer ratio of your current transformer to land at max. 1A @peak tank current(a bit higher if you go for a 12v supply instead of the customary 9V) but the diodes can take up to 30A surge at 10mS, so no cause for worry at ordinary service.

Cheers, Finn Hammer
