Rules for posting on highvoltageforum.net

*. Common sense must be applied, consider your own thread/post with the eyes of others, would you find it interesting, fulfilling with information to a question or good enough to post if it was written by someone else?

0. You agree that you will not post any copyrighted material to this forum unless you either own the copyright to that material or are authorized to do so by the copyright owner or by copyright law. You agree that you will not ask for illegal copies of copyrighted material/books/software. You agree not to use this forum to post material that is vulgar, defamatory, inaccurate, harassing, hateful, threatening, invading of others privacy, sexually oriented, or violates any laws.

1. Free energy, electrogravitics, and all other types of pseudoscience are not allowed on any part of this site, nor are links to sites that deal primarily with these subjects. Discussion of such topics will only be allowed if someone has undeniable, 100% solid proof that this is not pseudoscience.

2. Do not ask for step-by-step instructions, detailed plans, or complete schematics. If you want help, ask specific questions that show you have done some research on your own to understand the subject.

3. Avoid double-posting, double posting is posting twice in a row in a thread, without allowing any replies from other users in between. Double posting to bump a topic to the top to get it marked as new is not allowed. Every topic deserves a chance. If yours slips into obscurity, its chance came and went. If 8 hours have elapsed, and you have some new text information to add, you may double post. If there is much information, a large update with many lines of text and many attachments, it is allowed to double post to avoid editing long and complex posts with many attachments. This is the only two exceptions, there are no other exceptions! Posting an identical or nearly identical question in two individual threads is also considered double posting.

4. As an extension of #3. If you have a project with multiply problems, post the problems in the same project thread. An example could be initial questions to secondary coil parameters and later on tuning problems, those belong in the same thread. An exception could be programming of a new controller, this could belong in its on thread on another subforum.

5. AI generated content: This forum should be considered as a talk between humans in a real life situation. Copy/pasting answers to questions directly from an AI generator like OpenAIs ChatGPT or Google Bard is NOT allowed. All use of AI generated content MUST be quoted as from an AI, with a link back to the AI used and with enough information for others to recreate the same conversation/input with the AI generator.

AI generators should be used with great caution, as very niche knowledge and precise scientific details are not their strongest point. It is therefore strongly advised against using AI for answers if you cannot cross-check the given information with a credible source.

6. Let the moderators do their job. If you're not a moderator, you should not be accusing new members of not having read the rules. You certainly should not be making people feel unwelcome by acting hostile. If there is a problem with a post, report it to a moderator, and let them handle it.

7. You must have at least 10 posts in order to post something for sale in the Marketplace. Do not register for the sole purpose of selling something.

8. Newsletter will be sent out every 6. months, which is pretty rare, or only if there is big news to announce.

Guide for highest quality of life on highvoltageforum.net

Here is a few guides on how to post on hvf.net and get the most out of it.

Private messages as conversations/sent messages being saved (as of 23rd August 2017 this is now default for new members! Use this guide to change it for something else)

Private messages can look like a mess, since its not standard to save sent messages and its not saved as conversations, here is how to correct this.

1) go to Profile -> Account settings

2) go to Modify profile -> Personal messaging

3) tick off "Save a copy of each personal message in my sent items by default." and select "As a conversation" in the "Display personal messages:" dropdown box, click "Change profile"

Inline picture attachments

Attached pictures will just stack underneath the post, unless they are inserted into the post as inline attachments, press the link "(Insert Attachment x)" next to the file chosen, to put it into a inline picture between the text. During so will inhibit it from being shown in the attachment list underneath the post.
Preview of post can not be used! Attachments will not upload in preview!
