Got earlier to testing than expected. What was not unexpected though were the issues I discovered. Indeed, the changes of the last release broke stuff, including the ability to test the new UI pages, when the screen is actually connected to a microcontroller. In case you wonder: yes, I develop the UI on my PC without a microcontroller connected. Afterwards I test both of them together.
Some of the issues have been fixed in the new beta release; simple mode seems to work f.ex., while other stuff is known broken (changing coil limits). The main point is still to be able to play with the UI.

Also, here's how the new on-screen help looks. The new release v4.3.0-beta.2 already includes it for the MIDI Live page.

Kind regards,
Max

Update! The new on-screen help is done. It should be available on all pages now. This also meant that the old 'Help & Info' page could be repurposed. Check it out!
I also added an overview table to help you see which channels are associated with which coils. Using 'Show' the appropriate column or row is highlighted (see screenshots).

The new v4.3.0-beta.3 can be downloaded from the release page: https://github.com/MMMZZZZ/Syntherrupter/releases

Kind regards,
Max

Great work Max! I will soon check it out and I should properly make a video about upgrading the already running version, help spread the good word :)

Thanks, Mads!

It'll likely take me another 1-2 months til I get to fully test it and release a stable version. I did some rough checks though, basic stuff seems (!) to work by now.

Kind regards,
Max

I spent some time testing and bugfixing the current v4.3.0 beta. I almost caught them all.
Enjoy a more reliable (but still beta!) firmware v4.3.0-beta.4!

Kind regards,
Max

Hi Max,

First, let me thank you for contributing this awesome project. I've been following along for some time and finally decided to take the plunge and build my own a few months ago. I was inspired by Mads' Show Controller project, but added my own twists.

My control panel contains two stand-alone interrupters, the Syntherrupter and a board from a project called Midilector. I hope to be able to feed MIDI to the Syntherrupter from the Midilector through the MIDI input port rather than use a PC through USB/serial.

We tested the new panel this past weekend and it worked pretty well with the stand-alone interrupters. But in trying to get the Syntherrupter going, I ran into a problem where it's not saving settings. I made a video here to show you what I'm seeing. It seems no matter what settings I configure, nothing is being saved to the EEPROM. In the video, I'm just changing the username, saving and cycling power. When it boots back up, it reverts to the default username.

This is with Syntherrupter-4.3.0-beta.4. Could you please let me know if I'm missing something or give me some idea as to how I might resolve this?

Thanks again,
Cameron

Hi Cameron,

That looks awesome! I think I found your problem:

You should always keep your Tiva and Nextion firmware versions in sync. Minor updates (x.x.1 to x.x.2) are usually compatible with each other but the two versions you got there are definitely not. I've reworked the communication protocol between screen and microcontroller hence the latter can't understand your input.
The release notes indicate whether or not a new release is backwards compatible with previous ones.

@Mods: mind moving these two replies to the support topic...? Thank you!

Kind regards,
Max

Max, that got it! Thanks!

The mismatch was caused by me not originally catching that the binaries were available and trying to compile from the release branch. I was able to compile the Tiva bin, but had trouble with the TFTs. Then I found the binaries and neglected to update the Tiva.

Glad to be able to keep going with it. I'll update the thread when I get everything working.
