How to pick an IGBT brick?

Hi,

My friend is trying to pick an IGBT brick but it's his first time and he doesn't really know how. He's figured out how to pick out a good bit of the stuff but needs help with the remaining bits. Do any of you have experience picking IGBT bricks?

The question is pretty broad. Picking a IGBJT brick depends on what you want to do.

Mad's Barnkob has a very excellent guide to building a DRSSTC. At this link is a great table
showing the IGBJTs people have used to build various size DRSSTCs. Speaking from my own
experience it can be very helpful to copy what other builders have pioneered.

If this is your friends first tesla coil, using bricks can be an expensive way of learning.

Sorry. I was unaware of the second meaning of "pick". I have no experience with removing the (probably)
silicone based gel inside a brick.
