Why does onetesla's driver suck

Hello, basically why does it suck and is the OCD really needed at such a low power?

And if it sucks as a DRSSTC driver, then how good of a driver would it be for a SSTC?

In a perfect world all the energy in the primary circuit is transferred to the secondary circuit and ends up as sparks.

In the real world we are trying to maintain that equilibrium but its a loosing battle against spark loading and swinging resonant frequency, so the OCD is there to spare the IGBT of over-current and the MMC of over-voltage when things get out of control.

Its just like a fast car without brakes.

And if I add an OCD to this circuit I basically end up with UD1.3 or earlier?
