Neon transformer

Hi,

I found a neon sign transformer and I want to know if it could works for my tesla coil.
It's a 5000V and 50mA transformers with 2 output so I can put them in derivation to have a 5000V and 100mA output.
It's a 25 years old transformer of AUMPEM brand and reference 101053 220V 2.75A sec. 5000V 50MA

So I want to make sure, is it a good transformer for tesla coil or not?

It should work, but you might want to consider putting them in series for 10000V 50mA instead.

Could you post a picture of the transformer? Just to be sure what you mean about two outputs and possible also a picture of the marking plate.

5000VAC at 50mA is 250VA, which is in the low end of both voltage and current for a SGTC, but it can be done and work, just do not expect longer sparks than about 50-65 cm, so build a coil in a size that fit that spark length. Rough estimate is spark ength in inches = 1.7 * sqrt(Power)

Spark gap firing might be tricky with only 5000 VAC to work with.
