Help With Filament Supply For X-Ray Tube

Hello I am constructing my own X-ray machine and I need help with the filament supply. So far I have built my own high voltage supply and filament supply for my tube(https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/X-Ray-generator-Glass-Electronics-Baggage_60785041349.html
), and I have been able to produce small bursts of X-rays. Unfortunately, the reason why it runs for only a short period of time is that it renders the filament supply inoperable. Specifically there is a computer psu/switching mode power supply that blows up whenever I turn on the high voltage and trips the breakers to my room. This computer psu is only to input 12V into a voltage regulator/lm338 that then steps it down to a smaller voltage for the filament of the tube. I am unsure why the computer psu is blowing up but I have a hunch that I haven't properly grounded something. I would appreciate any insight on this. Thank you.

Let's see a more complete schematic.   The computer PSU and HV power supply each have at least four connections, maybe five.   Don't dismiss the AC power and grounding wires as not relevant, until you are more experienced.

Pictures of the power supplies would be an easy way to add information.

Hi, if the PSU transistor blows, then I am pretty sure you are encountering the same problem I had a short time ago, the problem was grounding.
The solution was earth-grounding (so connecting the negative side of everything to the same ground that then is connected to the building earth) so I connected the PSU and the voltage regulator negative to the earth of the PSU, (in my PSU only the chassis was grounded)after this all the problem with static electricity (the voltage regulator screen going mad), and the transistor blowing, disappeared.

Just out of curiosity, what type of HV power supply are you using?

Hello, that does seem like the problem. I haven't yet grounded the supply in the way in which you described so I will have to report back and see if it still blows up. Just to add more information, I have updated the circuit to show the supply connections. The high voltage supply is a 15-stage Cockcroft–Walton multiplier, and the input voltage comes from an AC transformer that outputs around 2.2 kilovolts. I have driven the AC transformer using a commercial ZVS driver which is powered by a 12-volt lead acid battery. As for the computer psu, I just connected the AC cable and the output DC voltage to the voltage regulator.
