Drsstc driver not giving a 50% duty cycle square wave
« on: June 08, 2021, 01:19:40 AM »
Hello, I have been working on my drsstc and have run into a problem with the driver. It seems that it just passes thru my interrupter signal and only amplifies it. I have been looking at the ud2.7 page and it seems that it should be closer to a 50% duty cycle wave (even if it is a 1.3b driver) any help on why it does this or how to fix it would be appropriate, cheers!

Realized I forgot to post the photo so here you are, the top is the fiber input (just probing the LED) and the bottom is the output of the driver with no gdt attached

To test the driver by itself, you need a signal generator feeding a signal to the driver's current feedback input.  With no feedback signal, what you are scoping is expected behavior.

With my frequency generator suppling a 5v 75khz (resonant frequency) sign wave it decreases the pulse width of the output but it still is not a 50% duty cycle square wave, actually further away.

This video shows the output without (the beginning output) and with (the ending output) “feedback from my frequency generator

My first UD2.7 driver was a chinese copy and the IC8 (TL3116 comparator IC)'s resistor divider was not grounded.
Check if all the connections on the board are okay.

Will do and thanks for the reply! Are there certain components I should check for the problem I have, or should I take more of a blanket approach to it?

Scope through the ECB to see where the 75kHz signal stops getting through.  Start with the feedback input, then to R2 (1k series resistor) left and right sides, then to comparitor output (IC8) etc.
