Title: tiny arcs even at high powers?
Post by: tophat on May 09, 2021, 01:02:16 AM
Hello all, I just finished up my drsstc (half bridge of cm300dy-12nf, ud1.3b driver, .23uf 8kv tank capacitor, 3-10 turns, 4" by 24" 2000 turns secondary with 18" by 4.5" toriod 78khz resonant frequency with both) and even at pretty high powers (150+vdc bus) I am getting sub 1cm arcs, and heating of the igbt and bus bars. I tuned it to the best of my ability but even tuned as well as I can I am getting 5mm arcs max. I am super confused and any help to finally get some better arcs would be much appreciated!

Have you tried to reverse polarity of your feedback CT or GDT?
