Need help identifying a component!

Hey all,

It's been a while since I was last here in this forum due to studies.

I'm currently part of a team participating Shell Eco-marathon Asia and one of our motor controllers have a blown chip! It is part of the USB input. The controller is working, however the USB port to program the controller isn't. It is an ESCON 70/10 servo controller by maxon motors. I will attach the datasheet below.

We have two controllers that are the same to refer.

It appears that the wording is "L2t". However, I could not find anything on it.

I agree that it's probably an ESD protection device - these tend to blow up if you manage to short a power rail to data pins. You may be able to confirm with a bit of detective work using the device marking and package type but it can be a major pain with those SMD marking codes.

I would remove it and test whether the device still works without it - it could have failed short and is stopping the USB port from operating. There is a chance that it still will, however it is also likely that the USB port on the microcontroller is dead (it's sometimes possible to blow up some pins without destroying the whole device).
