a substitute for FDD8424H

The FDD8424H is sold out worldwide, and I need 40 pcs. (Well, 20 would doo, I never used both channels anyway).
Is there a relatively direct replacement I am not aware of?

But who wants to commit a world class product to Chinese counterfeit of unknown valour? They are probably ok, but does anyone here have experience with them?
A minor rework of the board is a possibility, but a hassle, nontheless.

Hey Finn.

I've been burned by cheaper (smaller package) Mosfets and igbts from AliExpress and eBay. Sometimes they work, just a small gamble with time mostly.

I have a packet of 5 here from rs components if you want them (I have a feeling I might have some AliExpress ones as well, but not entirely sure). A farcry from the 20 you need, bit at least they'll be genuine.

I probably need a few myself (say, a dozen) if that would help get you to the minimum free-shipping order value, DM me if that's of interest (also, please don't buy the whole digikey stock if you don't need them!).

Wonderfull! I got them from Arrow, they offfered free shipping, like Mouser often doo these days. So Digikey is still 184+

Arrow isn't an option for private purchases to the UK since brexit, yet another casualty of idiots and lies. I can (and have) ordered to NZ when I'm about to head there to see my family though, with the added bonus of not paying VAT as long as I keep the arrow order under NZD400.

Good to hear you got them - seems that someone went through and cleared out everyone's inventory overnight, including all the arrow and digikey stock. I didn't get a digikey order ready in time (had to meet minimum order quantity for free shipping, otherwise I'd be paying 3x more shipping than in parts!), but I have a old UD2.x to salvage some from if needed, which should keep me going in the meantime (digikey is also showing more stock arriving in a couple of weeks).

Pretty strange about the hoarding of parts from Digikey and Arrow. Arrow in particular, because they were supposed to have 2000 in stock when I put in my order.
