Simple Arduino MIDI Interrupter

Using miditones and an Arduino I have developed a special Tesla Coil version.
There are 2 Versions.
Arduino Uno Version that can be used for up to 4-5 songs that just play
Arduino Mega Version with Adafruit MP3 SD Shield and Adafruit RGB LCD shield that can load songs directly from an SD Card and show them on the LCD screen

To Use this code
Put the files in libraries into the libraries folder in arduino 1.8.3
then open up TC_UNO

Output is on pins 5 and 6 connect through 1n4148 Diodes

If you have the RGBShield uncommend line 9 #define RGBShield
Then check line 21 #define ARDUINO_UNO change to ARDUINO_MEGA if using mega
Last adjust lines 959 960 961
TESLA_DC 15
TESLA_MU 300
TESLA_SU 400

To what works best for your coil, you can also change them when you call the song directly
This allows you to tune each individual song

Last you can take any Midi file and convert it to bytestream using miditones in command prompt
miditones -t2 "Name of Midifile"

Great project and thank you for sharing it all.

I never used a Arduino and therefore I am a little vary on all those shields etc.

Could you supply a small schematic to show how you connect the Arduino outputs through diodes to the Tesla coil itself, or through opto isolation or what solution you chose?

You wrote you used the 25$ RGB LCD shield, but I guess the cheaper 20$ LCD shield could be used aswell? https://www.adafruit.com/product/772

Did you use the 30$ MP3 SD shield because you had it at hand? Could the 14$ Datalogger shield be used instead? https://www.adafruit.com/product/1141

So you have to compile all songs into the loadfile and then write it to the uC? It is not completely clear to me if you just put the songs separately on the SD card or how its dimensioned? You write that the MEGA can only handle 20-25 songs, so its all really just in the uC? I am little confused on how this works since a SD card would hold "insert eternal sign here" MIDI files.

I will get some more images and a schematic for how the Arduino is connected (but basically its just a diode OR gate)
Its not opto isolated as I wanted this to be simple (but can be)
The cheaper $20 one should work great, I did use the MP3 because i had it but the $14 dollar shield should work, but the Code will need changed, you need to change the 2 lines with SD.begin(4); to SD.begin(10); (I dont have one to test at this time)

I did not make this part as clear, there are two different code setups,
In the first one the TC interrupter UNO the songs are stored in the uC, This program can run as an interrupter with nothing more then just the UNO 32k  or MEGA 256k memory.

The Second one requires the 2 Shields and a MEGA, but you can play songs directly from the SD card, so then you can add/delete songs quickly. I have it limited to 254 songs at the moment but it could be increased.
