Anyone know what is meant by 'igniter' in this experiment ?

Did a quick search and found igniters for fuel, would that make sense in this experiment ?

The igniter in this circuit diagram would be some sort of transistor/FET switch that when biased on will 
allow a pulse of electricity to go through the primary of the ignition coil and create a high voltage pulse
at the output of the secondary.

Calling this an igniter is just strange nomenclature. Maybe something was lost in translation...

The article appears to be a claim of creating a reduced (or anti) gravity pulse. I'd avoid using time trying
 to reproduce the effect. If the drawing of the experiment is at all representative of the actual layout then
all sorts of electrical interactions between the device on the scale and the rest of the environment are
probable.

Since electromagnetic forces are many, many orders of magnitude larger than gravitational forces, confusing
an electromagnetic effect with an expected gravitational effect is really, really easy...

yes i tried it today using a PWM and ignition coil and the first electronic scale i used is now permanently deranged

I moved the coil 2ft away from the testbed and put a foot of plastic pipe in between the cap and another scale, result was no signs of interference, but also no Civilian Space Programme yet ;+}

Interestingly, this 'ion wind' effect has been confirmed to work in a vaccum, so there is more than meets the eye to it, and noone has found out what yet.

I've been reading all i can get my hands on about it for 15 years and there's definitely a mystery there, the nature of which will be way over my head but it's fun investigating it.

I can't see how you can get an ion wind in a vacuum. Since an ion is  charged atom and a vacuum has no atoms...

In decent vacuum a voltage source can emit electrons. And as the old demo vacuum tube with a windmill
shows, those electrons can create a "wind" (force).

Yes that's my point, many think that only ion wind is at work when the net force displayed using highly charged capacitors, especially asymmetric ones, occurs. But the same net 'thrust' also occurs in a vaccum.

Gravitec, a NASA contractor have shown this a few times and others have confirmed it, but there's no explanation for it as yet.

I have plenty of documents, articles etc if you'd like me to post any, makes intersting reading.

Some aspects of the effect at normal air pressure, gathered from the experiments of others :

In symmetric, 2-plate capacitors :

Larger area plates increase the force.
Closer plates increase the force.
High K dielectrics increase the force.
Heavier plates increase the force.
More power increases the force.
AC Or pulsed DC provides more force than DC.
Using ground on one of the plates rather than negative supply increases the force.

In the popular 'lifter' topology, where the 2 plates are a thin wire and a sheet of aluminium :

More sheets = larger force.
One large sheet is better than 2 small sheets of equivalent area to the large one.
A more rigid aluminium sheet produces more force than a thin, flexible one.
The smaller the wire diameter the larger the force.
The effect works if the wire is in a vacuum tube.
'Thrust' is always toward the thin wire, regardless of polarity.

It's interesting that there is a net force in one direction and that it also works in a vacuum, lots to explore
