cheers, i feel honored. its amazing how much wire is used on bigger coils, when i wound mine i underestimated how much was needed and fell short. judging by your coil you've posted you'll have no trouble at all building a bigger coil. The community here is and has been extremely helpful.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on making your first Tesla coil run that great, that is a pretty good result for a single transistor SSTC.

It is a rather funny sound it makes in the video, I assume you are changing the on-time but it is running with a fixed BPS?

The base current feedback with a "bleeder" circuits reminds me very much of the VTTC class C Amstrong oscillators: https://www.stevehv.4hv.org/VTTCfaq.htm

it is true .. i run in low bps,
when bps is high, the spark will shorten ..
well that's why i ask for advice to you all here ..
how to improve this sstc capability ..
without prejudice to its simplicity ..
because this is just an exciter slayer that runs in class E and uses an interrup.
I do not have an oscilloscope .. 
all I raft by looking at schemes scattered on the internet ..
including on your website ...

i try raising bps ..
spark looks shortened ..

Either your gate drive is not sufficient to drive the gate, but that would more likely be shown with higher resonant frequency.

It is most certain the combination of your small DC bus capacitance and the seemingly small transformer, I doubt that transformer can supply enough current, so when you try to push too much power through it, the voltage drops and your spark output is small.

did not think of me about my little transformer ..
okay .. I try to enlarge the transformer and capacitor ..
all this time i just tried how big spark without paying attention to suplay ..

ever i try 220v direct from power supply .. but mosfet explodes ..
with the same circuit, but using transformer, mosfet is safe ..
I do not know why..
 
I will buy a larger transformer
