Up to 9 half-bridges of FS35R12 IGBTs in parallel, per board...

obvious click-bait head line, but I got no plans... so what to call to it

I got these inverter boards from a large 60 kVA UPS system where each cabinet had 4 of these modules inside.

It consisted of 10 FS35R12 IGBT bricks, which is a 3 phased full bridge module, but here they used 2 of these modules for a halfbridge where all 3 "halfbridges" inside the module was used in parallel.

There is a common DC bus supply for the 3 phases, the other 2 halfbridge inverters was either PFC or intermediate inverters, so I removed those and I now have a board with 3 halfbridges that consists of 3 parallel halfbridges.

So if I parallel these 3 outputs I would have 9 parallel halfbridges where each igbt die is rated for 70 Apeak, which is a little low, but with the huge thermal mass that 9 parallel bridges gives, this could properly be pushed above 100A without too much trouble.

At these low peak currents I think there is only one plan for these boards, a QCWDRSSTC. I could try even longer than normal on-times due to the low peak current or as I have 5 of these boards and extra IGBT modules, I could run 2 or more interleaved to allow more time for cooling.



Anyone got comments or suggestions to this plan?

I recently found my stash of these boards at the back of a shelf in the work shop.

Back in 2018, this did not spark the interest or imagination of the forum, is it any different here in 2021?

It should be interesting to try and build a beefy SMPS , shouldn't it?
A power supply that can provide something like 0 to 60V with 1500W or something like this.
