Since I started working with a new SCADA platform at work, I also started a wordpress blog about best engineering Practices, problems, troubleshooting and general information that might take hours to find in documentation be available upon searching on the error messages on google instead or flipping through image search for something that fit the description.

Not exactly something that every man and his dog is going to work with, considering the price tags on these systems

When I was at ABB, we often used a small website full of notes, tips and tricks made by a retired employee from ABB. It was all kinds of hidden unix commands in the systems and common causes of failures and such, it really turned out more useful than he ever thought it would be, as it was just his own notes put out public

Anyone else that document their work experiences for the public to see?

Hi Mads, just passing by and seeing this now, but if you need some info I have been working in the past with Wonderware products quite extensively and while it was a long time ago, some things may still apply... it was InTouch 10 + Archestra 7.x if I'm not wrong, but it must have evolved quite a bit

I think most of the basics of ArchestrA is still the same, like basic graphics and scripting.

I am working with System Platform 2020 R2 SP1 and Intouch OMI. OMI is VERY different from Intouch. Its a rule based layout that auto-fills content depending on context. Takes a while to get used to, compared to the oldschool you build all the displays by hand. Its all based on templates, so the graphics is all on instances that inherit it all.

The worst issues are by far the OI Gateway having trouble with OPC UA connections. Its loosing connections, its refusing to read some tags and write some others. Will randomly crash or have a hard time / be long about reconnecting. OI Gateway is giving me a headache

I remember we used Applicom cards to read OPC, SNR could be an issue with grounding side, etc... not always easy to track, but at least those cards were rock solid

It is all TCP based network solutions now. So not much SNR to worry about. Indeed was a problem back when running 10BASET over Thick Net and Coax. I worked with MasterBus on the old ABB Advant products like MasterPiece 200/1 and  Advant 400 controllers.
