Apart from the hassle of putting it all together in an orderly way, is there any reasom why a MMC made up of say 200-300 caps  (round 50-80nF , 1kVish, Wima FKP-1 style )?

Got a deal on them so I might consider just in case.

Something along "Kaizer Middle Size DRSSTC", ie single kW , lower number.

Works fine.  I've used similar numbers of small capacitors on two coils, my 450kHz QCW coil and recent 8kW ZVS oscillator driven CW DRSSTC.  Mine are TDK parts, 1.6kV 2.7nF.  Bought a box of 1000.

As long as you get some decent numbers when running your large MMC through the MMC calculator, there should be no limit to the amount of capacitors you can put in parallel/series. https://kaizerpowerelectronics.dk/calculators/mmc-calculator/

At some point its properly going to be too much stray indutance from leads, but I guess its at a point where most people would give up soldering that many together in the first place
