is there a standard pinout of optical audio output connectors?
« on: January 27, 2024, 01:47:13 AM »
I pulled out two optical audio OUT connectors from a tv and a audio splitter. I traced one of the pins back to ground but the other pins seem to be a mystery to reverse engineer. I attached a picture. In both pictures the ground pin is on right. the left and middle pin are the mystery pins. Both audio output connectors have an identical placement for the ground pin.

Its called a TOSLINK, from Toshibas branding, you should have all the information you need here: https://www.digikey.com/htmldatasheets/production/109667/0/0/1/fiber-optic-devices-toslink-guide.html

thank you, pin 2 seemed to be an anode. pin 3 was the cathode. weird it has 3 pins. this thread is solved.

TOSLINK

it is an active component, hence the 3 pins. gnd / +5V/sig IN or OUT, depending if its a Tx or Rx.

recently, thats what I use on my coil.

SGTC / SSTC / DR-SSTC / QCW
