hi, when sizing the tank capacitor, the impedance of the NST transformer is calculated which must be equal to the impedance of the tank capacitor: why? Thank you

It sounds like you are searching for the term "Larger Than Resonant" or LTR, when designing a MMC for a SGTC that does NOT resonate with the impedance of your NST, as this will destroy your NST. So try to look into that term and there should be plenty of information to find on google searches.

If indeed what you are seeking is information on transformer resonant frequency capacitor size, JAVATC provides an estimate. Its called "Resonant Cap Size" and is located in the "Power Calculations" output section. If you are using a NST, you don't want your primary tank circuit capacitor to be close to this value otherwise transformer damage can occur.
