g10 disk

I have a srsg made with a g10 disk I got it aligned fairly good but how can you true one up without a lathe. Or does anybody provide that service or sell already made disk. I would love to buy one or have someone true up mine. This disk is the hardest part of the whole project. I Would pay any price.

Mine works and is synchronous but I know its out of round, little vibration and I wan't perfection or close . That is what im looking at now the propeller style. Looks like would be easier to balance and much less load on the motor.   Wish I had a lathe, maybe I will find an old buddy with one. Im ready to fire, just have to set the firing to the mains.  Thanks for the picture.

When I made my G10 disk I didn't have a lathe but I figured out a way to make a very true disc. You need a rotary die grinder which is like a big Dremel tool. A Dremel tool is probably not powerful enough.

I assume that you have already roughed out the shape of the disc. Mount your disc to your motor exactly as you will be using it. Firmly attach the motor mount to a test stand. Make a holder for your die grinder so that it can be firmly attached to the same test stand that is holding your motor. Use the die grinder to slowly remove material from the disc circumference as you slowly rotate the disc by hand. As you remove material, move the die grinder closer to the disc. Eventually you will end up with a perfectly round disc if everything is mounted securely. I would do this outdoors as you will be creating a lot of harmful fiberglass dust. Also wear a mask.
