The hobo's SSTC

I've recently had the good fortune to crack open a microwave with a solid state 50N322A IGBT half-bridge power supply. I would very much like to cannibalise its larger parts to make some kind of SSTC. Working off http://pdf.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheets/toshiba/GT50N322A.pdf, the switching speeds aren't great, an order of magnitude slower than the DRSSTC grade FGH60T65SHD, but I'm hoping they might be just good enough for a low-power ~100kHz coil (to be achieved using a lot of windings)

I was looking at loneocean's SSTC 1 for inspiration - though my proposed coil will have more than double the windings (and a wider diameter to push up the resonant frequency), the same driver topology should hopefully work.

Before sinking any more thought into this - is this even worth building out, or am I just wasting my time on a project destined for mediocrity?

Given the price of a couple of brand new known-good IGBTs (e.g. FGA60N65SMD/FGH60N60SMD or the larger FGY75N60SMD) is $10-20 total from the standard rip-off merchants (i.e. RS/Farnell-element14) I wouldn't bother with random salvaged stuff. If a rock-bottom price is required then see my thread about the deal I got on the 75N60 parts from aliexpress.

It might be worth a shot to just use the inverter bridge as is? I mean, it is after all a 500-1000 Watt psu, so give it a new MOSFET driver section for a SSTC and maybe it can run a SSTC with a bit more than usual amount of primary windings.

Results will also reflect reusing a inverter built for another purpose, but just for the sake of proof-of-concept and for others to reuse "new" old microwave ovens, with the inverter type of power supply, instead of the good old heavy MOTs, there could be new life sparked into those PSUs for the Tesla coil builders
