Proper nomenclature of a HFSSTC circuit

Hello,

I am a chemistry PhD student who does some plasma chemistry.  Electronics are not my strong point.  we do gas phase reactions in plasma and recently became interested in the use of an aliexpress plasma candle such as this https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256805701506726.html?gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt for plasma generation.

The problem is that while I can find online resources like this forum about HFSSTC circuits, I am not sure there is anything published in the scientific literature about these for me to use as academic references.  I was wondering if people here could give me some insight into the specific search terms or good references in academic journals that I should look for about this style of circuit.  So far I have only found "HFSSTC" and "plasma candle" fr search terms which have not directed me to any peer-reviewed literature.  Not that I have issues with citing a forum, but if I missed an academic resource as well, that would not be ideal.

Class E amplifier (for that circuit), high frequency plasma, RF plasma.

That kind of HFSSTC need a well tuning or it can generate lot of wasted power and you cannot run the circuit for long. Even for some of those candles.

Any recommended sources for how to tune these? I have had the one from Aliexpress running for perhaps an hour max, I have not tried longer.  However the top coil on the generator unit heated up to the point of minor smoke and discoloring the PCB board below. I am tracking the power input to the system and the resultant efficiency being used by the plasma for the chemical transformation, and its not great.  I am obviously losing energy to the hot coil.  Is this something that tuning can alleviate?

If you just want to generate some plasma with electric circuit. You can find the "ZVS" driver / oscillator. That circuit can drive a high voltage transformer (or flyback transformer, FBT) which used in CRT TV, LASER, TIG, static electricity air cleaner, etc.

Usually, the common "ZVS" circuit working under 100kHz, and the FBT can have some diode inside, so the output may have quite lot of DC component.

For that HFSSTC product. Sorry I'm not an expert to tuning that circuit.
